On Saturday, RB Leipzig secured their first win over Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund this season with a thrilling 3-1 victory.
The match was a high-octane affair from start to finish, with both teams displaying incredible attacking prowess. However, it was RB Leipzig who emerged victorious thanks to the exceptional play of their star forward, Emil Forsberg.
Forsberg started the game brightly, creating numerous chances for his teammates but failed to convert them into goals. But in the second half, he stepped up to the plate and scored the winner for his side, capitalizing on a poor clearance by Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Bürki.
Forsberg's goal came after just 68 minutes of play, and it sent the Leipzig fans into raptures as they celebrated their first win against Dortmund since 2019. The victory also marked a significant milestone for Forsberg, who became the first player in Leipzig's history to score in three consecutive matches in the same season.
But it wasn't all good news for Borussia Dortmund. Despite being dominant in possession for much of the match, they were unable to create any meaningful chances and found themselves trailing 1-0 at halftime. However, they were able to come back strongly in the second half, with Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland combining brilliantly to equalize for Dortmund.
In the end, however, it was RB Leipzig who held on to secure their first win over Dortmund this season. It was a well-deserved result for a team that has been struggling for form recently, and one that will hopefully inspire them going forward.
