Bayer Leverkusen fell to a disappointing defeat against Bayern Munich on Sunday in the Bundesliga. The visitors struggled to find their feet in the opening stages of the match and were soon behind as Bayern striker Robert Lewandowski opened the scoring from close range.
However, it was not all doom and gloom for Leverkusen. Their forward duo of Erling Haaland and Kai Havertz came up with some impressive displays throughout the game. Haaland had a hand in both of Bayern's goals, scoring one himself and setting up another for Lewandowski.
Meanwhile, Havertz also played a key role in Leverkusen's efforts to create chances for themselves. He was instrumental in creating several good opportunities for his teammates and was a constant threat down the left flank.
Despite the strong performance from Leverkusen, they could not find the breakthrough and eventually succumbed to a 3-1 defeat at the Allianz Arena. It was a disappointing result for the visitors who were hoping to make a statement against one of Europe's top clubs.
On the other hand, Bayern Munich secured their place in the top four with this win. They have now won their last three matches in a row and will be looking to continue their good form when they face Hoffenheim next weekend.
