Hertha BSC lost to TSG Hoffenheim in the Bundesliga on Saturday, with goals scored by Croatian striker Mario Kramarić and Austrian midfielder Michael Baumgartner.
The match was played at the Veltins-Arena in Mainz, Germany, and was the third league game of the season for both teams. Hertha had been struggling with injuries and had not won their last three matches, while Hoffenheim were coming off a win over RB Leipzig earlier in the week.
In the first half, Hoffenheim dominated the play and had several chances to score, but failed to capitalize. In the 28th minute, Kramarić put the ball into the back of the net after receiving a pass from Jürgen Kruse.
Hoffenheim continued to dominate in the second half and had more opportunities to score, but again failed to convert. In the 77th minute, Baumgartner added another goal for Hoffenheim, putting them ahead 2-0.
Despite their poor performance, Hertha did manage to get one consolation goal in the 90th minute when Stefan Pöschel equalized for the club. However, it was too little too late as Hoffenheim held on for the victory.
This loss comes as a blow to Hertha's hopes of finishing in the top four of the Bundesliga this season. They now have five games left to play, and will need to improve if they want to avoid relegation. Hoffenheim, on the other hand, continue to build momentum and could potentially finish as champions of the league.
