Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) have continued their winning streak in the Ligue 1 season, defeating Marseille 2-1 at the Parc des Princes Stadium on Saturday evening.
The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating numerous chances throughout the game. However, it was PSG who emerged victorious thanks to goals from Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe.
Messi opened the scoring for PSG in the 47th minute with a well-taken finish from close range after receiving a pass from Angel Di Maria. Mbappe doubled PSG's lead just three minutes later with a powerful strike from outside the box that beat goalkeeper Mathias Vaildier.
Marseille, however, refused to give up and fought back strongly in the second half. They were able to equalize through a goal from Dimitri Payet in the 68th minute, but it was too little too late as PSG held on to secure all three points.
The win means that PSG now sit top of the table with 21 points, while Marseille remain in third place with 15 points. The gap between the two sides is currently only one point, so there will be plenty of drama left to come in the remaining matches of the season.
Overall, it was another impressive performance from PSG, who continue to show why they are considered one of the best teams in Europe. With Messi and Mbappe continuing to perform at such high levels, there is no doubt that PSG will be challenging for the title this season.
