Tottenham Hotspur suffered their first defeat in the Premier League this season as they were beaten by Brentford at home on Saturday.
The result was a bitter blow for Spurs manager Antonio Conte, who had been under pressure to improve his team's performance after they lost to Manchester United in midweek.
Conte's side struggled to create any clear-cut chances throughout the match and were eventually punished when Brentford midfielder Ryan Porteous scored from close range in the 59th minute.
Despite the loss, Conte did not blame his players for the defeat, but instead pointed the finger at himself.
"I am responsible for the results," he said after the game. "I have to be more intelligent with my substitutions and I have to be better with my tactical decisions."
Conte also defended his decision to leave Christian Eriksen out of the squad for the match, saying that he felt it was important for the team to focus on winning the game rather than resting key players.
Despite the loss, Conte remains confident that his team can bounce back and secure a top-four finish this season.
"Of course we will learn from this match and we will work hard to get back to our best," he added. "But we have to keep believing in ourselves and keep fighting until the end."
