Modrić named Milan's man of the match: The Croatian midfielder was praised for his performance in the team's victory over Napoli

But it was the performance of midfielder Marco Modrić that stood out on the night, with the Croatian star being named the man of the match by the referee.
In a match that saw both teams create plenty of chances, it was Modrić who came up trumps, providing the Rossoneri with the breakthrough goal in the 65th minute when he slotted home a penalty after a foul on Franck Kessie.
And while Napoli did have their moments in the second half, it was Modrić who continued to dominate proceedings, creating numerous chances for his teammates and generally making life difficult for goalkeeper Alex Mandrila.
Despite not adding to his tally, Modrić's display was nonetheless one to savour, with many fans and pundits alike praising his calmness, composure and ability to get the ball into dangerous areas.
It remains to be seen whether or not this performance will earn Modrić a place in the starting lineup for next week's crucial match against Atalanta, but one thing is certain - he has certainly made a strong case for himself as a key player for the team going forward.
